It is here where I began to establish my teaching career.  A very large school district and affluent community, Niskayuna offered me a range of experiences where I found much success.  I enjoyed the community and found the curriculum challenging and rewarding.  In the four years I taught in the district, I was awarded tenure and the opportunity to teach a range of English courses.

  • Year 9 Honors
  • Year 10
  • Year 10 Honors
  • Year 11 Mastery (lower level course for at risk year 11 students)

Shenendehowa High School-English Teacher-August 2003-July 2004
This was my very first teaching placement after receiving my Masters degree.  It was a fixed term maternity leave position.  Shenendehowa is an extremely large district with over 9,000 students.  The high school has approximately 2,300 students.  The student body was culturally diverse, as was the courses that were offered to suit their needs.  I taught a range of courses that included:
  • Year 9
  • Year 10
  • Academic Intervention Services
  • Year 12 Cinema Literature
